Aliens v Predator: Requiem

"In space no-one can hear you scream. On Earth it doesn't matter" runs the tagline for this film. It picks up right where AVP finished, with the birth of a alien on board the Predator ship leaving Earth. Having some physical characteristics of the Predator from whom it hatched, it very quickly matures and causes havoc, killing a few of the ship's crew before a Predator spots what's happening and in reflex shoots at the alien without thinking - damaging the ship's hull and causing it to crash back onto Earth.

It lands in a forest outside the town of Gunnison in Arizona, USA. On the Predator ship were also some live facehuggers which escape into the forest along with the 'Predalien'. The facehuggers and the aliens into which they change, soon end up at the town and start attacking the townsfolk.

One Predator from the ship survives long enough to send a message back to his homeworld, where it is picked up by one Predator who responds by travelling to earth. He discovers the cause of the crash and that aliens have escaped. He follows their trail to 'mop up' after blowing up the ship so it won't be found, and uses a chemical to dissolve bodies of facehuggers and their victims.

Meanwhile the aliens are on the rampage in Gunnison. Some characters manage to survive and meet up, only for some to be picked off as they continue to try and escape the town and the indvaders. National Troops arrive but are swiftly dealt with by aliens, whose numbers are multiplying rapidly. Survivors are then told that a military operation is underway to evacuate people from the centre of town, and that they should make their way there. Some believe the news and make for the town centre. Others are less believing and decide to make their way to the air ambulance at the hospital.

Aliens have also made their way there including their new 'leader' the Predalien. It implants alien emryos directly into some pregnant women about to give birth, bypassing the facehugger stage. Perhaps a feature of Predator biology which it inherited - but this is never explored. More members of the group of survivors are being picked off, while the Predator continues to battle and dispatch all of the aliens it comes across until it reaches the hybrid. As the last of the survivors finally make their escape in the helicopter, the antagonists continue to battle each other to the death. We find that the 'evacuation' is indeed a lie and is really a nuclear strike to destroy any remaining aliens and contain the disaster. The Predator and Predalien are both destroyed in the explosion, as are any aliens and townsfolk who still remained.

The helicopter is caught on the edge of the blast and crashes. The escapees are rescued by the military who also confiscate the Predator shoulder cannon which one survivor, named Dallas in echo of the original Alien movie, had obtained along the way. It is handed over to a mysterious woman, a Ms Yutani. The military are obviously aware of the Predator species (see Predator 2): she comments that the world isn't yet ready for this type of technology. The officer, Colonel Stevens, replies "But this isn’t for our world, is it Ms. Yutani?"
